Here are a few shots from the inside. It is a little hard to see, but you can get a better idea of what the inside of our master bedroom will look like. The most dramatic room is the new living/dining room which will have 10 feet ceilings.
The shape of the new section of the house is really starting to take form. Although we are far from done, it gives us a good idea of what the "new" house will look like.
Yes, it is true, the chimney and fireplace are gone...at least from what you can see in these pictures. They do have some more brick to remove that is underground, but for the most part, it's gone. It is hard to see in these pictures, but our new living/dining room area seems really big right now. Of course, there is nothing in it and the walls aren't up, but right now, it seems big. And today, our living space got smaller once more. They walled off the other side of the fireplace (near our current dining table) and access to our backyard from the kitchen has been boarded up.
The new master bedroom and bathroom are starting to take shape as the roof and walls are beginning their form. It is nice to get a true idea of what the new space will be like. The next hard part is deciding how to decorate it!
The workers were able to frame out our new master bathroom, master bedroom, walk-in closet and start on our dining room. We have a few issues, with one being major. After removing the ceiling the contractor noticed that our chimney is in the way of one of the new structural beams. So we need to decide whether to keep the chimney but have a redirect for the exhaust or remove the chimney all together.
The framing of the new master bedroom and bathroom are starting to go up. Now we are able to get a better idea of what our new space will be like. Far from done, but they're plugging along at a good pace.
The old master bedroom is now gone and they are starting more work on the roof. The debris is piled high and the noise is at high levels today. Definitely making progress, but today for the first time, I have a headache from all the noise.
Less than 3 weeks in and the walls are coming down! We no longer have access to our living room and our house is temporarily getting smaller. It is crazy to see how far they've come in such a short time.
